UFC Fight Night 93 results recap: Next matches to make for 'Arlovski vs. Barnett' main card winners

Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to Fight Pass yesterday (Sat., Sept. 3, 2016) in Hamburg, Germany gave fight fans who packed into the Barclaycard Arena plenty to talk about.

In the main event of the evening, Josh Barnett returned to win column in a big way after he took it to Andrei Arlovski, ultimately choking him out in the third frame (read all about it here).

In the co-main event, Alexander Gustafsson avoided a three-fight skid after he outclassed and outscored Jan Blachowicz to earn a decision victory (recap) while Ryan Bader knocked out Ilir Latifi with a devastating knee to put him back on the 205-pound map (see it).

Winner: Josh Barnett

Who He Should Fight Next: Junior dos Santos.

For whatever reason, "JDS" thinks he should be close to a shot at the title, despite alternating wins and losses for the last three years and just barely getting back into the win column by taking out Ben Rothwell in his last outing. I get it, I'd be lobbying for a title shot any chance I get, but at some point, it just gets ridiculous (I'm looking at you too, Frankie Edgar). That said, if Junior wants to get closer to a shot at the strap, a fight and a win over Barnett could be just what the Dr. ordered.

For Josh, should he get a win over the ex-champion, that puts him right in the mix of the title hunt. And seeing as how Josh just fought and "JDS" is gearing up to get back into training after shoulder surgery, I'd like to see these two big men lock horns at the end of this year or early the next.

Winner: Ryan Bader

Who He Should Fight Next: Alexander Gustafsson.

Why not? After all, both men should be ready to get back into the cage around the same time for obvious reasons. And since they're relatively close in the rankings, might as well pit these two contenders against one another to see who's ready to get back into the title hunt.

I get it, I likely won't get any votes to take over Joe Silva's job with my ideas, but I'm just trying to think a bit outside the box. Instead of having these two men take on other contenders, might as well book them to tango to see what's what. Plus, most of the division is already booked, so let's just sign, seal and deliver this fight while both are riding high off their victories.
