Great news everyone, we can start talking about a Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather publicity stunt super fight again!
Hey, it beats this.
The retired pound-for-pound great was singing the "Notorious" praises this week, insisting the reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion was a "hell of a fighter" who can "box real good." Maybe that's just hyperbole to keep the conversation going, or maybe he's just being nice.
Because "Money" is a super-swell guy!
As goofy as it sounds, legitimate media outlets (like this one) were actually reporting this showdown as a "done deal" back in August, though it never came to fruition. Instead, Mayweather stayed retired and McGregor redeemed himself against Nate Diaz at UFC 202.
The Irishman will move on to fight Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in November (more on that here) but after that is anyone's guess. That said, a move over to the "sweet science" -- even temporarily -- will definitely put an end to this championship plan.
