An underdog rose to the occasion tonight (Sat., Sept. 24, 2016) at UFC Fight Night 95 live on FOX Sports 1 from Ginasio Nilson Nelson arena in Brasilia, Brazil, as former TUF competitor Eric Spicely walked into enemy territory and took it to the ultra-talented Thiago Santos. The two middleweights locked horns and the unprecedented happened.
After some early first-round action, Spicely was able to grab a hold of the Brazilian and implement his grappling. Like white on rice, Spicely sunk in a rear-naked choke and proceeded to make Santos tap out in front of plenty of surprised Brazilian hopefuls.

With this win, Spicely essentially keeps his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) roster spot. Santos was a heavy favorite coming into this bout and Spicely wasted no time in showing up. it was quite the showing for "The Dream Catcher" and proof that good grappling can still outpoint powerful striking.
