Paul Felder and Francisco Trinaldo made it known in the opening frame that their lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night 95 tonight (Sept. 24, 2016) in Brasilia, Brazil, was going to be a stand up affair, as both men found their marks early and often. It may have been a bit sloppy at times, but the two strikers were intent on entertaining the Brazilian crowd.
Trinaldo though, was the obvious aggressor while Felder preferred to play the counter-striking game. But, once it hit the ground in the second round, Trinaldo unleashed some ground-and-pound that ultimately cut Felder wide open thanks to an elbow than made its way through his defense. The blood, coupled with sweat, helped Felder better defend the Brazilian's submission attempts.
The third and final frame was much of the same, as both were keen on letting their fists and kicks fly, though no one actually hit their mark flush enough to score a finish. Halfway through the round, though, the cut above Felder's right eye was spilling blood profusely (see pic here). After a moment of examination from the ringside physician, the decision was made to stop the fight, and rightfully so, as the blood was seeping into Felder's eye.
The win gives Trinaldo his seventh straight win, while the loss snaps Felder's two-fight win streak.
