The high-profile bouts keep rolling in for UFC 205, which takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., on Nov. 12, 2016, as Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced earlier today that women's Strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her title for the fourth-straight time when she meets fellow Polish striker Karolina Kowalkiewicz. In addition, a women's Bantamweight tilt between former division champion Miesha Tate and brawler Raquel Pennington was also revealed.
Jedrzejczyk's 115-pound match up with Kowalkiewicz will be the second title fight featured on UFC 205's main card, as UFC Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is also scheduled to defend his belt opposite Karate king Stephen Thompson. This will be a great opportunity for Jedrzejczyk to be featured on one of the biggest cards of all time. Her last title defense -- a five-round beatdown of nemesis Claudia Gadelha -- headlined The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 23 Finale on FOX Sports 1.
As for Tate, who recently lost her 135-pound strap to Amanda Nunes via first-round submission back at UFC 200 after claiming the title from Holly Holm at UFC 196, this is a great opportunity to knock off a middle-of-the-line contender that will launch her back into contention. Pennington, who has won three-straight bouts since dropping a split-decision to Holm at UFC 184, will be entering the most high-profile bout of her career.
With another title fight added to the New York event, it seems less and less likely that Conor McGregor will make his way onto the card. It'd be pretty amazing if UFC scheduled three championship fights for one night.
