You won’t get the full fight card — or the pay-per-view (PPV) headliner — until the official UFC 205 press conference next Tuesday in New York City, host for the Nov. 12 mixed martial arts (MMA) event inside Madison Square Garden.
Until then, the world’s largest combat sports promotion made five bouts official for “The Empire State” that not surprisingly, features a bevy of homegrown talent and a couple of familiar faces.
Courtesy of UFC Tonight:
145 lbs.: Frankie Edgar and Jeremy Stephens
170 lbs.: Donald Cerrone vs. Kelvin Gastelum
185 lbs.: Tim Kennedy vs. Rashad Evans
185 lbs.: Tim Boetsch vs. Rafael Natal
135 lbs.: Liz Carmouche vs. Katlyn Chookagian
Chris Weidman and Yoel Romero will also collide in middleweight action.
Reigning UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor was loosely attached to the UFC 205 main event; however, some shenanigans behind the scenes (like this) put the kibosh on a “Notorious” return.
That doesn’t leave many options for an event that already includes a welterweight title fight between Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson, but I guess that’s what this guy was hired for.
Stay tuned.
