Bellator MMA has found its headliner, and first bout, for an event (presumably Bellator 166) on Dec. 2, 2016 from WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma, as undefeated A.J. McKee meets the durable and dangerous Emmanuel Sanchez in an important featherweight contest, per an announcement made by the promotion earlier today (Fri., Sept. 16, 2016). The winner will move one step closer to the featherweight title currently held by champion Daniel Straus.
McKee (5-0) has been blowing through one opponent after another since making his Bellator debut in 2015, most recently submitting Cody Walker 32 seconds into the second round at Bellator 160. Vicious striking led to that opening, which has been one of the 21-year-old's most viable weapons inside of the cage.
Experienced mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran Sanchez (13-3) won't let the young prospect off the hook easily. Sanchez's three-fight win streak was snapped earlier this year by Daniel Weichel at Bellator 159, so the 26-year-old Duke Roufus protege would love to hand McKee his first professional loss and get back to his winning ways.
It's a one fight card so far -- additional bouts will be announced at a later date.
