Well, the wait is over. Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar C.M. Punk made his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) debut last night (Sat., Sept. 10, 2016) at UFC 203 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, opposite 24-year-old prospect Mickey Gall. It was arguably the most anticipated Octagon debut in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history and a Welterweight bout that sparked more buzz than any other fight on the card. After charging Gall from the opening bell and whiffing at air, Punk got swarmed immediately. Gall took down Punk, battered him on the ground and worked for the first-round rear naked choke finish. We didn't see much of Punk outside of okay submission defense, but it doesn't look like he's ready for this kind of competition. The full video highlights can be seen above courtesy of UFC. With this win, Gall can now focus on fighting 170-pound competition that will move him up the divisional ladder. This victory will certainly boost his notoriety, but his career is just beginning. Punk will have to figure out what he's going to do from here, especially since he's already 37. For complete UFC 203 results and coverage click here.
