Bellator 161: "Kongo vs. Johnson" takes place at H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas, featuring a Heavyweight showdown between Cheick Kongo (24-12) and Tony Johnson (10-2) in Spike TV's main event of the evening (Fri., Sept. 16, 2016). Both men put recent win streaks on the line at 265 pounds (or less), with Kongo holding consecutive wins over Alexander Volkov and Vinicius Queiroz, while Johnson rides a three-fight streak that includes beating Raphael Butler in January.
Three new bouts have just been added to the "Prelims" portion of the card airing on Spike.com and the Bellator mobile app, chief among them being a featherweight Fight between Mark Dickman (11-2) and Daniel Pineda (21-12). Pineda had a tough break in his Bellator debut in February, becoming one of several fighters to lose to Emmanuel Sanchez by split decision. "Tricky" Dickman had much better luck at Bellator 154, winning his debut with a third round technical knockout.
In a talent-deep Featherweight division, every fight like this matters. And while Pineda looks to earn his way back to the main card, Dickman could leapfrog him with another impressive finish.
