Rising Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight prospect Yair Rodriguez attempted to cash in on his first main event bid last night (Sat., Aug. 6, 2016) opposite Alex Caceres at UFC Fight Night 92 live from Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. But, before FOX Sports 1's marquee match up unfolded, the rest of the card delivered on arrival.
In an attempt to finally get past a world-class Brazilian Middleweight, UFC veteran Chris Camozzi went head-to-head with submission expert Thales Leites, who had lost back-to-back fights for the first time since 2009. Unfortunately for Camozzi, Leites didn't give him a whole lot of room to unload his striking and nasty clinch work. The Brazilian pressured Camozzi inside, took him down and controlled him for the majority of the fight before sinking in a rear naked choke finish in the third and final frame.

Leites moves back into the win column in the 185-pound division as he works to regain his previous momentum. As for Camozzi, who has seen his last two major UFC win streaks snapped by a Brazilian submission artist (Ronaldo Souza being the other), he'll have to continue is evolution on the ground if he's ever going to make noise within the top 15.
