Report: UFC on FOX 21 returns 'lowest ratings in the history of the series'

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

It's kind of hard to watch UFC on FOX 21 when you turn on the television ... and it's not there.

That's what happened last weekend (Sat., Aug. 27, 2016) for a large portion of mixed martial arts (MMA) fans, who expected to see the "Maia vs. Condit" event from inside Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, but instead got preseason football.

NFL strikes again.

UFC on FOX 21 pulled a 1.2 rating with 1,983,000 viewers, the "lowest in the history of the series," according to Dave Meltzer at MMA Fighting (see the previous record holder here). That said, 15 markets aired "Maia vs. Condit" on tape delay -- or on a completely different station altogether.

If you can't find it, you can't watch it.

The best numbers of the night (2,207,000 viewers) came when Anthony Pettis submitted Charles Oliveira in the co-main event. To see that finish, as well as all the post-fight fallout from UFC on FOX 21, head over to our "Maia vs. Condit" news archive right here.
