Forget about Welterweight, Benson Henderson is going to take a run at the Bellator MMA Lightweight strap. After defeating Patricio Freire last night (Fri., Aug. 26, 2016) at Bellator 160 live from Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Henderson locked down a title shot opposite current 155-pound king Michael Chandler.
The two mixed martial arts (MMA) stars will collide at Bellator 163 on Nov. 19 live from SAP Center in San Jose, California, per an announcement made by the promotion immediately following Henderson's second-round TKO win at Bellator 160.
Since his days of running the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight division, fight fans have wanted to see Henderson take on Chandler. As two of the premier athletes at 155 pounds today, "Smooth" and "Iron" could put on fireworks when they finally meet later this year. It will mark Chandler's first title defense since winning the belt back at Bellator 157 with a first-round knockout of Patricky Freire.
Fortunately for fight fans, Bellator 163 will also feature a Welterweight bout between promotional golden boy Michael Page and MMA veteran Fernando Gonzalez.
