UFC 202: Conor McGregor earns record-breaking $3 million guaranteed salary for Nate Diaz rematch

Conor McGregor is back on top. At least when it comes to highest salary commanded for a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. According to FOX Sports, "Notorious" will earn a cool $3 million payday for his rematch against Nate Diaz, which is set to headline UFC 202 later tonight (Sat. Aug., 20, 2016) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The previous high was Brock Lesnar earning $2.5 million for his beatdown of Mark Hunt at UFC 200 one month ago.

Shit on that!

As far as McGregor's previous best, he nabbed a $1 million guaranteed purse for his first fight against Diaz -- which he lost via rear-naked choke -- at UFC 196 back in March. Speaking of million-dollar paydays, Diaz will earn himself a cool $2 million purse for his work in "Sin City," more than double what he earned for their initial encounter, as Diaz raked in $500,000 back in March.

The pay increase for McGregor may be surprising for some to say the least, considering he suffered a lost in the original match. Nevertheless, "Notorious" is proving once again that he is indeed the company's top star and draw and commands a matching salary.

I take it the new owners have taken a liking to the fiery Irishman.
