The field of fighters who are set to compete at UFC 202, which takes place tonight (Sat., Aug. 20, 2016) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, are all official for competition. Perhaps most important, the two talents who will helm the pay-per-view (PPV) main event, Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, have both enjoyed full training camps this time around and there are no short notice replacements. In other words, there should be no -- or at least fewer -- excuses once the dust settles.
Diaz defeated McGregor in their first meeting at UFC 196 earlier this year, weathering a first round blitz to storm back in the second stanza to submit the fatigued Irishman. McGregor was the one who demanded an immediate rematch instead of defending his Featherweight world title for the first time ever. Whether or not packing on 25 pounds for back-to-back Welterweight contests against Diaz was a wise decision remains to be seen.
And it will be seen, tonight, shortly after UFC 202's PPV main card gets underway at 10 p.m. ET.
In addition, top-ranked Light Heavyweight contenders, Anthony Johnson and Glover Teixeira, will lock horns in the co-main event of the evening. The winner will likely earn the next crack at 205-pound division champion, Daniel Cormier, later this year. Former Lightweight title challenger Donald Cerrone will also look to continue his impressive run at 170 pounds at the expense of Rick Story.
That's not all.
