UFC 202 is set to unfold later tonight (Sat., Aug. 20, 2016) live on pay-per-view (PPV) from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. With a rematch between Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight champion Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz serving as the marquee headliner, as well as featured mixed martial arts (MMA) stars like Anthony Johnson, Donald Cerrone and Glover Teixeira holding down the main card, UFC 202 should deliver on arrival. But, before the UFC 202 PPV sets your cable box ablaze, a portion of the event's "Prelims" undercard will take place on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) starting at 8 p.m. ET. Find out what happened right here as the UFC 202 FS1 undercard recaps roll in real-time:
Cody Garbrandt vs Takeya Mizugaki
They met in the middle, Cody tagged him and it was all she wrote. Literally. After dropping Takeya with a huge right hand, "No Love" pounced on his fallen foe to earn a one-minute knockout over the former WEC veteran. It was quick, it was vicious..but was it it enough to shoot him to the top of the title race?
After doing the same to his Thomas Almeida in his previous bout, it's hard to argue against Garbrandt.
Raquel Pennington vs Elizabeth Phillips
The ladies gave it their all, as they fought for a grueling three rounds in what was a back-and-forth affair. It may not have been the most exciting standup affair, but they showed off their respective grappling skills, as they fought for position throughout the bout.
In the third and final round, Pennington was determined to get the finish, as she latched on to Phillip's neck for a rear-naked choke to no avail.
In the end, the judges scored the fight in favor or Pennington.
Artem Lobov vs Chris Avila
In what was the opening round of the Team Diaz vs. Team McGregor battles, Lobov and Avila duked it out from the get-go. It was a rather tepid affair early on, with both men feeling each other out. Artem, though, was getting the best of the striking early on.
Avila simply couldn't pop off any offense, as Lobov was the much more experienced fighter. After all the aggression showed from both camps pre-fight, this one didn't quite live up to the billing. Nevertheless, Artem lives to fight another day while Avila will have to wait and see if his performance was enough to earn him another fight inside the eight-walled cage.
Randa Markos vs Cortney Casey
After an early takedown, Markos had Casey in a tough spot, putting her in a very tight headlock while delivering punch after punch to the kisser. Once she escaped, Casey reversed position and started raining down punches of her own.
And with 30 seconds remaining on the fight, Casey channeled her inner-Ronda Rousey to lock in an armbar to force the tap. An outstanding performance from Cortney who worked her way out of a pickle early on to get the win.
