Rafael dos Anjos vs Tony Ferguson to headline TUF: 'Latin America' Finale in Mexico on Nov 5

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

An intriguing Lightweight showdown is headed South of the Border, as former division champion Rafael dos Anjos is set to face Tony Ferguson in the main event of the next Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Latin America" Finale on Nov. 5, 2016, in Mexico, City Mexico.

The match up was originally reported by

dos Anjos is fresh off a first-round knockout loss to Eddie Alvarez, which saw the former champion cough up his 155-pound strap to the ex-Bellator MMA king in Las Vegas (recap). The loss -- which snapped a five-fight win streak -- was his first in two years.

As For Ferguson, he’s been on a roll as of late, winning eight straight dating all the way back to 2013. More recently,"El Cucuy" survived several scares against Octagon-newcomer Lando Vannata at UFC Fight Night 91 to score a second-round win (watch full video highlights here).

While many expected Ferguson to get first dibs at dethroning Alvarez, taking out a former world champion like "RDA" could be his guaranteed ticket to the big show. As for dos Anjos, slowing down Ferguson’s momentum in Mexico could be just what he needs if he wants to jump the championship line to try and reclaim his title.
