UFC Fight Night 92: ‘Rodriguez vs Caceres’ scores 863,000 viewers against 2016 Olympics in Rio

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

UFC Fight Night 92: "Rodriguez vs. Caceres"— which featured a featherweight bout between Yair Rodriguez and Alex Caceres in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sat., Aug. 6, 2016, brought in 863,00 viewers, according to MMA Fighting.

It’s a rather respectable figure, seeing as how the FOX Sports 1-televised event was going up against opening day of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

According to the report, opening day for the Olympics drew in just under 21,000,000 viewers for NBC.

Plus, when you consider the fact that UFC Fight Night 92 featured up-and-coming stars in the headlining act as opposed to established "big name" veterans, it was still a decent day at the office for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and FOX Sports.

As for the event itself, Rodriguez went on to narrowly defeated Caceres via split-decision after an entertaining five-round fight (see it again here), while Dennis Bermudez stopped Rony Jason in the co-main event (highlights).
