Latest UFC rankings update: Yoel Romero returns to middleweight top 10, Yair Rodriguez makes headway at 145

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight contender Yoel Romero is now eligible to be ranked at 185 pounds, following the completion of his disciplinary suspension for a positive drug test earlier this year.

Romero in, Jones and Lesnar out.

The latest UFC rankings update was released on Tuesday (Aug. 9, 2016) to reflect those changes, as well as the results from last weekend's UFC Fight Night 92 mixed martial arts (MMA) event in Salt Lake City, Utah. The big winner from that FOX Sports 1-televised event, Yair Rodriguez, jumped two spots at 145 pounds, but failed to crack the division top 10.

Maybe next time.

Here's what the latest ranking field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, *NR = Not previously ranked).

There you have it.

You can expect these standings to change in less than two weeks as the UFC 202: "Diaz vs. McGregor 2" pay-per-view (PPV) event takes place a week from Sat. night (Aug. 20, 2016) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (more on that card here).

Until then, let us know what you think of the latest rankings movement in the comments section below.
