Karolina Kowalkiewicz defeated Rose Namajunas last night (July 30, 2016) at UFC 201 inside Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia after three rounds of intense action.
With the win, the Polish-born fighter likely earned herself a Strawweight title fight against fellow countrywoman Joanna Jedrzejczyk. During her post-fight interview, Karolina warned "JJ" to be ready.
"I hope I fight with Joanna in New York. She always talk that I am not on her level. I fight with her and I hope now I show everybody that I can fight with her. I am ready and I hope she is ready for me."
During the post-fight presser, Karolina went as far as to say "JJ" is scared to step inside the Octagon against here, despite the fact that Joanna has a win over her dating back to their amateur days.
"I think she's scared," Kowalkiewicz said of Jedrzejczyk. "Just like that."
When asked of Kowalkiewicz would indeed get the next title shot, UFC president Dana White wouldn't confirm. He did, however, say that it's the fight that made the most sense and if it came to be, he would stage it in Poland.
Plus, he also revealed that it was Joanna who urged him to sign Karolina to a UFC contract with the hopes that one day thier paths would cross in order for her to prove to her country and the world that she is the best fighter in Poland.
