The action ensued tonight (Sat., July 23, 2016) at UFC on FOX 20 live from United Center in Chicago, Illinois, as former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's Bantamweight champion Holly Holm made her return to the cage opposite talented Russian striker Valentina Shevchenko.
In easily the most high-profile mixed martial arts (MMA) bout of her career, Shevchenko did not disappoint. She lured Holm into the pocket and waited to counter with perfectly-timed right hooks. Despite being knocked down in the first round by a Holm right hand, Shevchenko opened up with spinning back fists, wheel kicks and sweeping takedowns. Holm tried to push the pace in the later rounds, but "The Bullet" was sensational in shot selection and counter combinations. Shevchenko certainly rose to the occasion and escaped Chi-town with the five-round unanimous decision.

With this victory, Shevchenko may wind up in a title fight opposite newly crowned champion Amanda Nunes, who the Russian lost to via unanimous decision back at UFC 196. She already knows the power of "Lioness" and would be primed for a highly-competitive rematch.
As for Holm, her future reboot with Ronda Rousey continues to slowly slip away.
