UFC Fight Night 90 live stream results: 'Dos Anjos vs Alvarez' play-by-play updates


Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will kick off its annual midsummer triple-header with UFC Fight Night 90: "Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez" TONIGHT (Thurs., July 7, 2016) from inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the Fight Pass-exclusive main event, scheduled for five championship rounds, reigning UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos will defend his strap against former Bellator 155-pound titleholder and No. 2-ranked contender Eddie Alvarez.

Meanwhile, in the heavyweight co-main event, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 winner and former IFL standout, Roy "Big Country" Nelson, trades heavy leather with rising 265-pound smashing machine and streaking knockout artist Derrick "Black Beast" Lewis.

155 lbs.: UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos vs. Eddie Alvarez

Round 1: Alvarez opens with a low kick. Once again. Straight left by the champ. Low kick from RDA. One minute in. Hard uppercut from Dos Anjos, then a body kick. Alvarez flicking out right hands, lands a body kick. Straight left by the champion, then another. Alvarez low kick. Alvarez shoots into a guillotine. Dos Anjos loses it, but lands a knee on the way up. Two minutes in. Alvarez to the body, straight right up top. Alvarez takedown stuffed. Dos Anjos shoots, can't get it. Head kick by Dos Anjos, right hand by Alvarez. BIG right hand wobbles the champion! Eddia Alvarez throwing everything he has! Alvarez Leaps in with a huge knee, but this lets Dos Anjos land on top. Alvarez stands and takes him down in return. Ninety seconds to survive.

Alvarez still unloading. Savage blows from the former Bellator champion. Dos Anjos still standing but he's just taken too much punishment. Herb Dean steps in and Eddie Alvarez is your new UFC Lightweight Champion.

265 lbs.: Roy Nelson vs. Derrick Lewis

Round 1: Body kick from Lewis to start. Lewis barrels into the clinch lands a knee. Nelson grabs double underhooks and hauls him to the fence. One minute in. Lewis continues to defend. Short knees by Nelson. Big John splits them up two minutes in. Lewis clips Nelson with head kicks and a nasty uppercut. Nelson hits a trip into half guard. Two minutes to go.

Lewis grabs an underhook and stands, cracking Nelson with a knee and uppercut. Monster shots by Lewis. Nelson shoots in once more and takes Lewis to the fence. One minute to go. Big John separates them. Big ol' welt on Nelson's stomach from those knees and kicks. More bombs from Lewis to the head and body. Nelson hits an outside trip and takes mount before the bell. 10-9 Lewis.

Round 2: Nelson comes out throwing. Jumping knee by Lewis. Things are quite a bit slower than before. One minute in. Low kick from Nelson. Lewis answers with a heavier one. Lewis tries a high kick. Nelson whiffs on an overhand right. Double underhooks for Nelson. Two minutes in. Lewis defending against the cage. Nelson manages to pull his hips out and take side control. Two minutes to go.

Short punches from Nelson. Lewis avoids an Americana attempt and works his way back to his feet. One minute to go. Nelson hits another trip, Lewis pops up again. One minute to go. Another takedown for Roy, again to side control. Lewis shoves him off and stands. 10-9 Nelson.

Round 3: Both miss with overhand rights. Lewis tries a high kick, then lands a hard knee to the body. Nelson ties up on the fence. Short punches by Nelson. One minute in. Another takedown from Nelson, this time into half guard. Not much happening. Two minutes in. Lewis gets back to his feet. Two minutes to go.

Browne elbows by Lewis, Nelson takes him down again. Lewis pops up. Knee by Nelson. Big John splits them up. One minute to go. Body kick by Lewis. Both men spent. Lewis tees off on him on the fence. Nelson ties up. Lewis shoves him away and slings tremendous bombs. A sweeping right knocks Nelson's mouthpiece somewhere into the next county, but Roy manages to survive. 10-9 Lewis.

Final result: Lewis def. Nelson by split decision


170 lbs.: Alan Jouban vs. Belal Muhammed

Round 1: Leg kick from Jouban. Another one, this one hits groin. Overhand left drops Muhammad, who regains his senses and ties Jouban up in guard. One minute in. Muhammad turns for an armbar and uses it to stand, then hits a takedown into butterfly guard. Solid shots by Muhammad as Jouban stands, then a foot sweep. Two minutes in. Body kick from Jouban. Jab from Muhammad, who gets crushed by a head kick while leaning in. Jouban drills him with a series of vicious elbows. Two minutes to go.

Muhammad still in there, still scrambling as Jouban batters him. Knee to the body, more elbows. One minute to go. Diving right hand by Jouban and Muhammad scrambles to his feet. Knee to the body by Jouban in the clinch. Again. Straight right by Muhammad. 10-8 Jouban.

Round 2: Muhammad lands a right hand early. Body kick by Jouban. Low kick checked. Muhammad shoots, stuffed. One minute in. Stiff jab by Muhammad. Jouban warned for posting with his fingers out. Another body kick connects. Counter left and down goes Muhammad once again. He pops right back up and grabs double underhooks in the fence. Two minutes in. Knees from Muhammad in the clinch. He changes levels for a single-leg. Two minutes to go.

He switches legs, Jouban continues to defend and separates. Right hook by Jouban. Right hand from Muhammad. One minute to go. Low kick exchange. Body kick and left hand by Jouban. Muhammad hits a double-leg, lands right hands as he stands. 10-9 Jouban.

Round 3: Right hand from Muhammad, low kicks from Jouban. Glancing high kick from Jouban, Muhammad again lands straight punches. Muhammad shoots, stuffed. He takes Jouban to the fence, one minute to go. They separate. Muhammad on the advance. 1-2 lands for him, head kick blocked. Jouban with a low kick, may have nicked Muhammad's eye with a finger. Two minutes in. Body kick from Jouban. Hard series of right hands fro mMuhammad on the fence. Muhammad teeing off with heavy punches on the fence. Jouban still kicking. Two minutes to go.

1-2 from Muhammad. Again. Jouban's exhausted. More hard right hands by Muhammad. Late surge by the UFC newcomer, landing constantly. One minute to go. Jouban body kick, eats right hands in return. Muhammad can't miss right now but he's almost out of time. Muhammad shrugs off a hard left hand and uncorks combinations. Uppercuts, sweeping rights, everything landing for Belal Muhammad. HE tries a spinning back fist at the bell. 10-9 Muhammad.

Final result: Jouban def. Muhammad by unanimous decision


155 lbs.: Mitch Clarke vs. Joseph Duffy

Round 1: Duffy flicks out a high kick early. MASSIVE counter right flattens Clarke! Duffy immediately moves to the back and locks up the rear-naked choke. Damn.

Final result: Duffy def. Clarke by submission (rear-naked choke)


170 lbs.: Alberto Mina vs. Mike Pyle

Round 1: Mina moving forward. He falls short on a flurry, lands a body kick. One minute in. Mina hits a quick takedown into guard. Two minutes in. Pyle has an overhook and uses it to stall Mina until the referee stands them up. Hard left hooks from Mina and down goes Pyle, right on schedule. Pyle inverts, then weathers the storm to lock him up in guard. Two minutes to go.

Solid ground-and-pound from Mina. One minute to go and Mina dives down with a hard right hand. Pyle grabs the fence when Mina tries to slam him, then stands. Mina avoids a knee, shoots, and waits out a guillotine attempt. 10-9 Mina.

Round 2: Mina knocks an off-balance Pyle over. Leg kicks by Mina. Pyle trips him up and stands. One minute to go. Low kick by Pyle and Mina comes back with a tremendous flying knee that lays the veteran out. A few hammerfists seal the deal  and Mina has the night's first knockout.

Final result: Mina def. Pyle by TKO (flying knee and punches)


155 lbs.: Mehdi Baghdad vs. John Makdessi

Round 1: Baghdad lands a low kick, caught. Counter left from Makdessi. One minute in. Good 1-2-3 by Baghdad. Low kick lands for him. Makdessi working the jab. Good low kick from Baghdad. Makdessi with a spinning back kick. Two minutes in. Makdessi counters a leg kick with a straight right. 1-2 from Baghdad, low kick by Makdessi. Lead left hook and straight right land for Baghdad, then a head kick glances off. Two minutes to go.

Makdessi counters to the body. One minute to go. 1-2 again by Baghdad, left hook to low kick afterwards. Baghdad looks for an elbow. Sneaky uppercut by the Frenchman. 10-9 Baghdad.

Round 2: Low kicks from Makdessi. Baghdad with a harder low kick in return, Makdessi continues his own booting. Combination from Baghdad, body kick by Makdessi. One minute in. Check hook by Makdessi. Spinning back kick lands to the thigh. Baghdad slips on a high kick and Makdessi advances. Low kick lands. Two minutes in. More low kicks from Makdessi, Baghdad answers. Body kick by Baghdad. Makdessi lands a glancing wheel kick. Two minutes to go.

Makdessi doing much better this round. Left hook by Baghdad. Counter combination by the Canadian soon after. 1-2 by Baghdad. Spinning back kick from Makdessi. One minute to go. Baghdad low kick; that's been his best weapon thus far. Looks to go high, misses. They trade low kicks and exchange inside. One more low kick from Baghdad before the bell. 10-9 Makdessi.

Round 3: Brutal combination by Baghdad to start the round, kicks and punches and knees that send Makdessi to his knees. Makdessi survives and Baghdad goes for a flying armbar. Makdessi avoids it and sets up in guard. One minute in. Short ground-and-pound from the Canadian. Baghdad makes space and stands. Low kick by Baghdad, counter punches from Makdessi. Two minutes in. HUGE left hook from Baghdad and Makdessi takes it like a champ. Makdessi still in there, throwing back. Spinning back fist by Makdesi, then a takedown attempt. Baghdad slips out and lands an elbow. Two minutes to go.

Straight right from Baghdad, who circles away from a spinning back kick. Jabs from Makdessi. Another low kick from Baghdad. Makdessi landing well with his jab. One minute to go. Baghdad shoots, stuffed and Makdessi lands a left hook. Makdessi on the attack and a right hand may have rattled Baghdad. Makdessi on the attack and Baghdad pulls guard. Close round, great fight. 10-9 Baghdad.

135 lbs.: Anthony Birchak vs. Dileno Lopes

Round 1: Body kick from Birchak and Lopes charges after him in return. Lopes gets a bodylock and briefly gets Birchak down. The scramble continues, Birchak using the fence without grabbing it to defend. One minute in. Birchak counters a takedown and lands on top, only for Lopes to take his back in the ensuing scramble. Birchak calmly carries Lopes to his (Birchak's) corner for advice. Two minutes in. Birchak elbowing the thigh as the two hand fight. Birchak twists to face him, then hits a trip  to land on top. Two minutes to go.

Birchak dropping body shots, then attacking from the rear waistlock. Lopes slips out, avoiding a knee, and they trade some nasty punches on the fence. Birchak flubs a trip and Lopes again takes the back, putting in both hooks quickly. One minute to go. Birchak shucks off the hooks and looks to counter with a Kimura grip. Lopes grabs double underhooks, then back to the waistlock. Fun round. 10-9 Lopes.

Round 2: Body kick from Birchak. Lopes falling short with punches. Hard left hands by the Brazilian. Body kick by Lopes, then a flurry inside. One minute in. Birchak takes him to the fence with double underhooks. They trade shots inside. MASSIVE left hook nearly takes Lopes out. Birchak storms after him. Two minutes in. Lopes with some hard punches of his own. Lopes grabs double underhooks and Birchak reverses position on the fence. Knees to the thigh by BIrchak. Two minutes to go.

Lopes reverses in turn. Birchak reverses and nearly gets his head caught in a guillotine. One minute to go. Knees from both. Lopes puts in a hook, threatens a guillotine transition. Birchak counters with a Kimura grip. 10-9 Birchak

Round 3: The two hug and then pump up the crowd to start the round. Birchak moving forward, lands a body kick. Elbow by Birchak, right hook by Lopes. Long shot by Lopes and Birchak wins the scramble, ending up on his feet. One minute in. Lead right by Birchak. Skipping knee lands for him. Body kick, right hand. Two minutes in. They're both fairly exhausted at this point. Counter right hook by Lopes as he takes a body kick. Solid right hand from Birchak and they exchange on the fence. Two minutes to go.

Overhand left by Lopes. Straight left soon after. Another left lands on Birchak's jaw. Lopes shoots, stuffed and taken to the fence. Knees from Birchak. Right hand connects and they return to the center. One minute to go. Both men visibly exhausted. Left hand from Lopes. Birchak does the Holloway thing and points down at the center. Left by Lopes after a failed takedown. They trade punches, then stare at each other at the bell. 10-9 Birchak.

Final result: Birchak def. Lopes by split decision


135 lbs.: Russell Doane vs. Pedro Munhoz

Round 1: Doane comes out swinging, landing well. Left hands and body kicks land for the Hawaiian. Munhoz with a body kick of his own. Counter hook by Munhoz as he eats a body kick. One minute in. Hard right by Doane and a knee behind it. Right hook and straight lefts by Doane. Right hand rattles Munhoz. Munhoz slugging with him but coming out on the wrong end. Both land elbows and Munhoz hits a takedown. Munhoz transitions to a guillotine from the rear waistlock and, despite Doane's best efforts, draws the tap.

Final result: Munhoz def. Doane by submission (guillotine choke)


135 lbs.: Felipe Arantes vs. Jerrod Sanders

Round 1: Arantes comes out slinging kicks. Low kick connects, then a hard right hand forces Sanders to shoot. Arantes sprawls on it and locks up an anaconda grip. He loses it, then looks to take the back. One minute in. Sanders manages to wind up on top and soon moves to half guard. Sanders takes mount in a scramble. Staying heavy, not posturing up as of yet. Sanders seems to look for an arm-triangle and Arantes uses it to take half guard. Two minutes to go.

Ground-and-pound by the American. Arantes gets full guard and briefly threatens an armbar, stymied by the fence. More ground-and-pound by Sanders. 10-9 Sanders.

Round 2: Arantes stalking forward. Sanders shoots, avoids an uppercut, and scores a takedown into guard. One minute in. Arantes working off his back and manages to lock up an armbar after thirty seconds of work, drawing a verbal submission.

Final result: Arantes def. Sanders by submission (armbar)


155 lbs.: Gilbert Burns vs. Lukasz Sajewski

Round 1: Burns looking aggressive early. Sajewski with a body kick. Solid right by Burns on the fence. Sajewski to the body. Burns shoots, settles for taking the Pole to the fence. One minute in. Sajewski defends, lands a right on the exit. Right from Burns in return. Sajewski stings Burns with punches and lands a knee. Lead uppercut by the Brazilian. Low blow sends Sajewski staggering back. Two minutes in when they restart. Burns throwing kicks. Sajewski to the body. Burns lands a right hand and Sajewski wobbles. Burns pulls guard on a guillotine, Sajewski stands and escapes. Two minutes to go.

Burns tries, can't get a throw. Sajewski pressing him against the fence, shrugs Burns off but eats a left. Lead knee and overhand right by Burns. Sajewski is not steady on his feet. Burns hits a low takedown and looks for the back with a minute to go. Burns locks up the body triangle, then transitions to an armbar with ten seconds to go and earns a pained tap.

Final result: Burns def. Sajewski by submission (armbar)


135 lbs.: Marco Beltran vs. Reginaldo Vieira

Round 1: Vieira lunging in with punches. He shoots in and eats a knee to the body, but completes the double-leg against the cage. One minute in. Beltran quickly works his way back up, gets brought back down while trying Browne elbows. Beltran working to get his back against the cage. Two minutes in. Beltran makes it up, grabs the fence as he gets taken back down. He pops back up. Long right by Vieira. Beltran whiffs on a hook kick. Two minutes to go.

Hard left by Beltran as he falls short with a running knee. Check hook backs Vieira off. Beltran stuffs a takedown and lands a thudding knee in return. Body kick from Beltran. One minute to go. Inside low kick by Vieira. Veeira looking to open up inside. Beltran gets taken down at the bell. 10-9 Vieira.

Round 2: Vieira sporting a cut above his right eye. Over hand right from Veieira and they trade simulatneous left hooks. Vieira charges in as Beltran waves him on, can't get the takedown but lands some good shots. Vieira rips to the body, eats a knee, and changes levels for a double-leg. This time, he carries his foe away from the cage before putting him on his back. Beltran scoots to the cage, eating ground-and-pound along the way. Two minutes in. Beltran cracks him with a pair of upkicks and Vieira falls back for a leg. Beltran turns him over, overcomes a blatant fence grab from Vieira to secure back mount. Beltran puts on the squeeze and the dazed Brazilian taps.

Final result: Beltran def. Vieira by submission (rear-naked choke)


170 lbs.: Alvaro Herrera vs. Vicente Luque

Round 1: Tentative start as they feint in the center. Low kick from Luque. Another one, this one hits groin. One minute in. More low kicks by Luque. Hard 1-2 by Herrera, Luque shrugs it off. Luque throwing out kicks. Luque hits a quick single-leg, only for Herrera to pop up. Luque takes him to the fence and continues to drive. Two minutes in. Herera still defending, but winds up on his back in guard thirty seconds later. Luque takes a while to begin the ground-and-pound. Two minutes to go.

Luque moves to half guard and postures up for bigger shots. Herrera regains his guard, eating hard elbows as he does. Back to half guard. One minute to go. Herrera makes it to his feet and rips a good body shot, although he looks badly winded. Luque stalking forward. Spinning elbow attempt from Herrera, who gives up another double-leg. Luque thumps him with another elbow before the bell. 10-9 Luque.

Round 2: Herrera with a snap kick to the body. Luque clips him with a left hook and body kick. Another low kick from Luque, who looks for a single-leg. He switches to a double against the fence and scores another easy takedown. Steady ground-and-pound by the massive favorite. Two minutes in. Herrera tries to kick him off, Luque stays attached and looks for the back. Luque looks for a choke as Herrera stands, settles for a spinning back fist, flying knee, and easy takedown afterwards. Two minutes to go.

Luque in half guard, then side control. Luque locking up a d'arce and he's got it.

Final result: Luque def. Herrera by submission (d'arce choke)
