Kimbo Slice video tribute: Remembering MMA's street fighting legend, YouTube sensation

Street fighting legend, YouTube sensation, and unparalleled mixed martial arts (MMA) draw, Kimbo Slice, died unexpectedly as a result of heart failure on June 6, 2016, in a South Florida hospital at the age of 42, leaving behind a rags-to-riches legacy that epitomized the American Dream.

No one was prepared for the Elite XC, UFC, and Bellator MMA star to depart so soon, leaving most fight fans in utter shock. In fact, Slice (5-2, 1 NC) -- who split his combat sports duties with boxing -- was expected to rematch James Thompson at Bellator 158 next month in London, England.

But that fight took a backseat when a new fight -- to get a replacement heart -- took over the bearded brawler's final days. In the above video tribute, we remember the short life and inspiring combat sports career of the man and lifelong fighter born Kevin Ferguson in 1974.

R.I.P. Kimbo.
