Most people already knew who Cody Garbrandt was before he viciously knocked out rising contender Thomas Almeida at UFC Fight Night 88 last week (see it again here), but "No Love" made sure the mixed martial arts (MMA) world wouldn't forget his name after his explosive performance.
To hear the Bantamweight champ tell it, he thought he was talking to one of the members of "New Kids on the Block."
"I mean, I've heard that name before; I think that is somebody that Faber manages and collects a percentage of off when he fights, so that would make sense for him to mention his name. I saw him, and I just thought he was one of he 'New Kids on the Block.' I don't know who he is."
Cody's name came up after Cruz defeated Urijah Faber -- Garbrandt's teammate -- last night (Sat., June 4, 2016) at UFC 199 (recap here) in a much-anticipated trilogy fight, perhaps putting an end to their longstanding rivalry.
And though "No Love" is a ways way from title contention, many are already pegging him as a legit threat to Dom's strap. Cruz, though, isn't sweating it because he doesn't even know who we're talking about.
