Finally!
Current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight champion Conor McGregor will meet Nate Diaz once again at UFC 202 on August 20. The news was announced tonight (Sat., June 4, 2016) during UFC 199's live pay-per-view event.
Diaz originally defeated the Irishman back at UFC 196 via second-round submission.
This is terrific news for the UFC and fight fans considering there seemed to be some issues regarding the rescheduling of the biggest rematch in promotional history. McGregor was even linked to a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
UFC 202 may be the most important fight in McGregor's already legendary career. In order to preserve his marketability and sense of invincibility, he needs to step back up to 170 pounds and smartly fight Diaz to a victory. After that, he can move back down to 145 pounds and defend his title against the winner of Frankie Edgar vs Jose Aldo currently set for UFC 200.
