It's official!

Former UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will make his return to the Octagon at UFC 200 on July 9, 2016, in an announcement made by the promotion during UFC 199's pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this evening (originally reported by MMA Fighting).

With the news that Lesnar will serve as the co-main event against an opponent to be announced, UFC 200 will absolutely surpass the two million PPV buys mark that could essentially land mixed martial arts right next to boxing on the combat sports throne. It also means that Conor McGregor's absence from the event really doesn't mean that much.

Remember, Lesnar headlined UFC 100 in a rematch with Frank Mir.

Lesnar has been competing in the WWE since leaving the UFC back in 2011 after losing to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141. He's far removed from competing in pro MMA, but he has the physical potential to destroy a lot of fighters.

With current UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic defending his title at UFC 203 opposite the aforementioned Overeem, Lesnar will not be getting a title shot upon his return. Instead, he could very well face Mir (if he is cleared to fight) in a trilogy fight or MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko.
