Light Heavyweight standouts, Anthony Johnson and Glover Teixeira, have been re-booked to battle inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Aug. 20, 2016, after their upcoming showdown at UFC on FOX 20 was scrapped because of an injury to "Rumble."
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced the match up on Twitter.com this evening, as well as a Welterweight scrap between Donald Cerrone and the resurgent Rick Story.
The clash between Johnson (No. 2) and Teixeira (No. 3) will likely crown the next 205-pound title contender once division champion, Jon Jones, and interim kingpin, Daniel Cormier, settle their score at UFC 200 next month. Johnson is coming off a knockout win over Ryan Bader earlier this year, while Teixiera is fresh off a similar result at the expense of Rashad Evans two months ago.
Cerrone has won back-to-back bouts at 170 pounds after Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos sent him packing with a first round liver shot back in Dec. 2015. "Cowboy" most recently torched Patrick Cote via technical knockout in round three two weeks ago. Story, meanwhile, returned from an 18-month layoff last month, scoring a unanimous decision victory over Tarec Saffiedine.
UFC 202, of course, features the rematch between Featherweight champion, Conor McGregor, against Nate Diaz in the 170-pound pay-per-view (PPV) main event of the evening. The only other match official at this time is a Welterweight showdown between Hyun Gyu Lim vs. Sultan Aliev.
