Michael Chandler hadn't hoisted Bellator MMA gold since 2013 when he entered the cage earlier tonight (Fri., June 24, 2016) at Bellator 157: "Dynamite 2" from Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo., opposite Brazilian knockout artist Patricky Freire.
In an effort to record his third-straight finish since losing to Will Brooks back at Bellator 131, Chandler launched one perfectly timed right hand that caught Freire on his chin and momentarily stiffened the Brazilian like a long surfboard. Just like that, the 30-year-old Chandler is once again a world champion.

With this victory, Chandler moves back into the promotional driver's seat. He's easily one of Bellator's most prized possessions and a guy who can certainly rack off a few title defenses over the next two years.
As for Freire, this is only the second time in his productive career that he's been finished via strikes. At just 30 years of age, "Pitbull" is more than capable of earning another shot at 155-pound gold.
