While much of the mixed martial arts (MMA) world's attention is reserved for UFC 200 on July 9, UFC Fight Night 90 stands to be the very best event Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has ever promoted on Fight Pass.
Headlined by a very interesting Lightweight clash between current champion Rafael dos Anjos and well-rounded challenger Eddie Alvarez, the July 7 throwdown will be sure to deliver.
In preparation for the 155-pound title fight, the UFC has released a preview for "Battle Lines: Dos Anjos vs Alvarez" (shown above).
The Youtube video description is as follows:
Get an intimate look at the lives of the two men training for their upcoming UFC lightweight title fight. Champion Rafael Dos Anjos isolates himself from his family by traveling to the busy metropolis of Singapore, studying Muay Thai from the best and teaching jiu-jitsu -- the sport that helped him rediscover his passion for fighting. Meanwhile challenger Eddie Alvarez, having already captured championships in multiple other organizations, takes the opposite approach, living at home and training not far from the mean Philly streets that produced him.
Dos Anjos, who previously defended his title with a first-round TKO finish of Donald Cerrone back at UFC on FOX 17 this past December, will attempt to further solidify himself as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.
As for Alvarez, who defeated Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis in succession to lock down a title shot, he'll look to thwart the champ's aggression with fight intelligence, wrestling, consistent boxing, and a toughness that has left him unfinished by strikes since 2007.
