Derrick Lewis trades in heavy bag, brutalizes stack of tires in preparation for Roy Nelson

What's not to love about Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Derrick Lewis?

He not only hails from a background in boxing under the tutelage of the legendary George Foreman, but Lewis has immediately transformed himself into a bona fide knockout artist at the mixed martial arts (MMA) level.

After disposing of his last three UFC opponents by way of knockout or TKO, "Black Beast" has earned the opportunity to challenge divisional mainstay Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night 90. Nelson may not be the bordering title contender he was just a few years ago, but he's still one of the biggest names in the division.

Well, like the true beast he is, Lewis is training extra hard for his July 7 showdown with "Big Country." In fact, the 31-year-old bruiser has decided to toss the heavy bag aside, stack some tires together, and beat them about the face like he was trying to burn rubber (shown above, courtesy of Fancy MMA).

The technique is certainly unorthodox, but one that Lewis has seemingly honed. After all, a regular heavy bag probably doesn't get the job done. And considering Lewis is facing one of the best chins in MMA today in Nelson, he should be doing anything and everything in his power to bolster his striking.

UFC Fight Night 90 will be headlined by a Lightweight title fight between champion Rafael dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez.
