Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight No. 1 contender, Glover Teixeira, will no longer be competing at the upcoming UFC on FOX 20 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, set for July 23, 2016 inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
That's according to a report from MMA Fighting.
Teixeira was slated to throw hands with 205-pound slugger Anthony Johnson, but "Rumble" recently withdrew from the "Windy City" fight card and it looks as though the world's largest (and richest) combat sports promotion was unwilling to cough up the extra green for this guy.
Perhaps "Johnson vs. Teixeira" -- pegged as the UFC on FOX 20 co-main event -- will be rebooked for an upcoming fight card in the near future.
UFC on FOX 20 will be headlined by the women's bantamweight showdown pitting former division titleholder Holly Holm against Peruvian "Bullet" Valentina Shevchenko. In lightweight action, Edson Barboza collides with Gilbert Melendez.
