Conor McGregor, Robbie Lawler, and Holly Holm nominated for ESPN ESPY Awards 2016

ESPN

Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Conor McGregor, who returns to the welterweight division for his UFC 202 rematch against Nate Diaz in August, has been nominated for a pair of plaques in ESPN's 2016 ESPY Awards.

"Notorious" is up for Breakthrough Athlete and Best Fighter.

But in order to win the latter he'll have to overcome fellow nominee Robbie Lawler, who won a five-round war against Carlos Condit to kick off the new year, before eventually settling on a Tyron Woodley title defense at the upcoming UFC 201 pay-per-view (PPV) next month in Atlanta.

That's not all.

Former women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm -- who starched Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 last November, is in the running for Best Play and Best Upset. The once-beaten "Preacher's Daughter" makes her Octagon return in just a few weeks on FOX.

Fans can vote for each ESPY category online at ESPYS.com all the way up until July 13. The show is expected to air on ESPN later that night.

Maybe McGregor can follow in the footsteps of last year's big winner and take another jab at Floyd Mayweather (for this).
