Cowboy Cerrone: Patrick Cote bout at UFC Fight Night 89 'tailor-made' for my style

Donald Cerrone will look to make it two-for-two in the welterweight division as he gears up to face longtime veteran, Patrick Cote, in the co-main event of this weekend's (Sat., June 18, 2016) UFC Fight Night 89 event, which is set to go down at TD Place Arena in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

A fight against "The Predator" is the kind scrap fans yearn for, says "Cowboy," as he knows Cote will bring it on the feet once he realizes his takedown offense will be nullified.

And it's good for Cerrone, too, as he tells UFC.com that this 170-pound showdown is right up his alley because it means more than likely someone is going to get their block knocked off.

"It's going to be kind of a tailor-made fight for me. I believe he's going to try to take me down, but he's not going to be able to. It's just going to be what everyone wants to see - everyone loves to see knockouts. No one wants to see wrestling and boring fights; they want to see two guys go out there and try to knock each other's head off, so I have zero head movement and I think it's just going to be one of those fights."

Cerrone made a successful move up to welterweight by taking out Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 83 last February (see it). A move that was prompted when he failed to capture the lightweight title in his first-ever UFC title fight against Rafael dos Anjos.

Now, it seems the hard-hitting "Cowboy" may have found a new home at 170 pounds after competing at 155 pounds his entire mixed martial arts (MMA) career. The move seems to be a positive one for Cerrone, because he can pretty much eat anything his heart desires, all while competing against willing strikers who could signal even more post-fight bonus checks for his bank account.

Not a bad deal at all.
