'Gangster' Khabib Nurmagomedov poses with gun, gets heavily criticized in wake of Orlando shooting

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, who does not reside in United States, is getting lit on up Twitter for what can only be described as the worst timing possible.

Not that it's ever a good time to pose with a gun and brag about being a "salted gangster," whatever that means, but considering what transpired in Orlando, Fla., this past weekend -- a shooting rampage that left nearly 50 people dead -- "The Eagle" is probably going to have some explaining to do.

From his Twitter account:

And then Instagram:

Yikes.

As expected, a majority of his followers on social media were not impressed, though I would reckon Nurmagomedov probably doesn't even know what happened. Still, considering he's a high-profile athlete, you would think someone from his team would be on the lookout for this sort of thing.

Ranked No. 1 in the world, Nurmagomedov -- vocal about his religion -- is expected to return to action later this year.
