Bethe Correia vs Jessica Eye targeted for UFC 203 on Sept. 10

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

It now looks as if two recently defeated Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's Bantamweight contenders will meet at UFC 203.

According to a recent report by Combate (h/t Bloody Elbow), a bout between former title challenger Bethe Correia and hard-nosed brawler Jessica Eye is in the works for a Sep. 10 showdown in Cleveland, Ohio. The billing would be fitting considering Eye was born in Ohio, lives in Ohio, and trains in Ohio. It would be quite the homecoming for "Evil."

Eye (11-5, 1 NC) has lost her last three Octagon appearances since punching Leslie Smith's ear off at UFC 180 in one of the more infamous stoppages in divisional history. She will need to capture victory by year's end if she wishes to stay afloat in a growing 135-pound faction.

Correia (9-2), was unable to rebound in fashion after her championship knockout loss to Ronda Rousey back at UFC 190, most recently being defeated by Raqual Pennington via split-decision this past April at UFC on FOX 19. Her divisional stock has certainly taken a hit since winning her first three Octagon appearances.

UFC 203 will be headlined by a Heavyweight title fight between champion and Eye training partner Stipe Miocic and world-renowned striker Alistair Overeem.
