The greatest fighter in mixed martial arts (MMA) history to never throw down inside the famed Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Octagon goes by the name of Fedor Emelianenko.
For all intents and purposes, the 39-year-old Russian Heavyweight is among the top five best MMA fighters of all time. Yet despite the UFC's ability to acquire legendary talent, the promotion has failed to attract "The Last Emperor" to the MMA promise land.
Fortunately, that has not stopped UFC from getting a piece of the Fedor pie. As part of its partnership with Eurasia Fight Nights, the organization will air Emelianenko's June 17 matchup with former UFC brawler Fabio Maldonado at EFN 50 exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
UFC released the above promo in advance to one of the most highly-anticipated Heavyweight collisions of 2016.
Emelianenko (35-4-1 NC), who has competed just once since his return to MMA, is coming off a first-round finish over Singh Jaideep at Rizin Fighting Federation II back in December of 2015. He hasn't faced someone as dangerous as Maldonado since knocking out Brazilian legend Pedro Rizzo back in 2012.
As for Maldonado (22-9), he will attempt to reclaim MMA notoriety against an all-time legend after losing three out of his final four UFC appearances to Stipe Miocic, Quinton Jackson, and Corey Anderson.
