Conor McGregor hails Amir Khan for moving up in weight to fight Canelo Alvarez

Despite a crushing one-punch knockout loss to current Middleweight champion Saul Alvarez last night (Sat., May 7, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada (see it again here), Amir Khan earned the praise and respect of many of his fellow combatants.

And it wasn't limited to the boxing arena, as Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight champion Conor McGregor took time to give props to Amir for taking a risk by moving up two weight classes to challenge the much bigger fighter.

Respect to Khan.
Most established fighters these days look down the divisions for a fight.
Very few are looking up.

Khan, who is undoubtedly one of the best boxers on the planet, looked to stun the boxing world by jumping up from Welterweight to take out one of the best prized fighters in the game today. But, as the world saw last night in "Sin City," all it takes is one clean punch from a heavy-handed fighter to call it a night.

Of course, Conor giving Khan praise for moving up isn't all that surprising, as "Notorious" suffered the first loss if his UFC career at UFC 196 earlier this year when he, too, took the chance to move up two weight class to take on Nate Diaz at 170-pounds.

So if anyone knows what it's like to roll the dice only to come up short in devastating fashion, it's McGregor.
