This entire Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. saga has warped the minds of countless combat fans across the world.
Are the two megastars actually going to fight in a boxing ring? Are fans and journalists simply reaching for something that isn't there?
While the latter seems more likely, nothing is ever cemented in stone when it comes to McGregor and Mayweather. As the two highest-grossing athletes in their respective sports, the cash cows would wipe the vault clean if they ever decided to officially lock horns.
If it ever got that far, boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. doesn't believe the action would last that long.
"Conor McGregor would be wasting Floyd's time," said Jones Jr. in a recent interview with Fancy MMA (shown above). "He can't beat Floyd in no boxing match, are you serious? He struggled with Nate Diaz and Nate Diaz is not a A-class boxer. You think Conor McGregor got a chance at boxing Floyd Mayweather?"
Jones Jr. certainly knows his boxing and we'd be foolish to think that McGregor can actually go toe-to-toe with Mayweather Jr. in a technical striking match, but the Irishman does pack a lot of power.
If Floyd Mayweather Sr. is correct and negotiations are ongoing between his son and McGregor, Jones Jr.'s emphatic prediction may be put to the test after all.
