Now that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has revealed its plans for the 155-pound title, top contender Tony Ferguson will move on from his recent illness and throw down against top-10 lightweight and fellow Ultimate Fighter (TUF) champ Michael Chiesa.
Where and when?
The UFC Fight Night 91 main event inside Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on July 13, 2016, according to a new report from MMA Fighting. The main card will air on FOX Sports 1 with select "Prelims" on UFC Fight Pass.
Ferguson (20-3) -- winner of seven straight with five finishes -- was expected to settle his longstanding score with lightweight rival Khabib Nurmagomedov just last month; however, "El Cucuy" was forced to withdraw after suffering from fluid in his lungs.
Now he's back ... but is he better than ever?
He made need to be against the red-hot Chiesa (14-2). The rough-and-tumble "Maverick" is now the winner of three straight over some very stiff competition, which includes submission wins over grappling wizards Jim Miller and most recently, Beneil Dariush.
Fun fight.
UFC Fight Night 91 will also feature a middleweight showdown pitting Tim Boetsch opposite Josh Samman, while Alexey Oleinik and Daniel Omielanczuk hook 'em up for heavyweight bragging rights.
