Longtime welterweight sluggers Matt Brown and Jake Ellenberger will hook 'em up for a spot in the 170-pound pecking order at the upcoming UFC 201 pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) event on July 30, 2016, inside Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
UFC brought word of the pending showdown on Thursday.
Brown (20-14) has struggled to stay relevant in recent years after dropping three of his last four. That includes a submission loss to Demian Maia earlier this month in Brazil. It should be noted that all three of those defeats have come against top-shelf competition.
Not that it's been all wine and roses for Ellenberger (30-11).
"The Juggernaut" has just one victory across his last six fights and has been finished three times in the process. His most recent appearance came in the form of a unanimous decision loss to Tarec Saffiedine at UFC on FOX 18 to kick off the new year.
Loser leaves town?
UFC 201 will be headlined by the welterweight title fight pitting current 170-pound kingpin Robbie Lawler against top division contender Tyron Woodley. In the UFC 201 co-main event, Demetrious Johnson defends his flyweight strap against 125-pound stalwart Wilson Reis.
