UFC Fight Night 88 results: Live streaming ‘Almeida vs Garbrandt’ play-by-play updates

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is inching closer to its FOX Sports 1 return, as the upcoming UFC Fight Night 88 mixed martial arts (MMA) extravaganza takes over Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, this Sunday evening (May 29, 2016).

Red-hot undefeated Bantamweight prospects, Thomas Almeida (21-0) and Cody Garbrandt (8-0) will collide in the FOX Sports 1-televised main event, the winner of which will inch closer toward a future title shot against reigning 135-pound kingpin, T.J. Dillashaw.

That's not all.

In the co-main event, former Bantamweight champion Renan Barao will look to get back on track after losing two of his last three bouts courtesy of the aforementioned Dillashaw when he packs on 10 extra pounds to battle Jeremy Stephens in a Featherweight showdown.

Garbrandt wobbles him with a left hook and looks to pour it on. Two mintues in. Counter elbow by Almeida, right hand after it. Almeida seems to have woken up. Impressive exchanges. Just as the Brazilian seems to have gotten back into the fight. Garbrandt crushes him with a tight right hand. Almeida collapses to the mat and a few hammerfists polish him off.

Round one: Low kicks from both men. Stephens landing some heavy outside low kicks. 1-2 from the Braziilan, who catches a low kick and cracks Stephens with two punches. One minute in. 1-2 from Stephens, who eats a low kick. Right hand from Barao, then a counter hook off a low kick. Sharp counters from the former champ. Counter left hook after taking a low kick. Barao shoots and takes Stephens to the fence. Two minutes in. Left hand by Barao from southpaw. Two minutes to go.

Stephens ties up with double underhooks. Elbow and knee by Barao. Barao goes for a knee-tap on the exit, eats a winging right from Stephens. One minute to go. Counter right and spinning back kick from Barao. Barao shoots in. Stephens defends with the whizzer, but nearly gives up his back before the bell. 10-9 Barao.

Round two: Low kick from Barao. 1-2 by Stephens connects and he shrugs off a takedown attempt. Another stuffed takedown. Counter hook from Barao afterwards. Stephens low kick, then a hard upeprcut and straight right. One minute in. Left hook tags Barao. Another uppercut blasts the former champ, who comes back with a left hook. Not much coming back from Saffiedine a minute in. Story catches a body kick, eats a right hand. Hard low kick by Saffiedine. Story ties up and takes him to the fence. Short knees by Saffiedine. Story pressing him against the cage. Knees from both men. More knees as Story continues to drive. They jockey for position, then separate with a minute to go. Story drives in once again on the fence. Story with a knee to the body, then some vicious body shots. Saffiedine throws a blatantly late head kick after the bell. 10-9 Story.

Round two: Story rips to the body, eats a glancing head kick. Low kick and body kick from Saffiedine, met by a left hand. Front kick from the Belgian. Story slips on a low kick and Saffiedine takes half guard. Story pops right back up and takes him to the fence. One minute in. Knees by Saffiedine. Story looking for a single-leg, Saffiedine slings him away. Low kick from Saffiedine. Story catches Saffiedine coming in with a left hand and stuffs a takedown attempt. Two minutes in. They separate and Story pounds the body, eating a knee on the way into the clinch. Saffiedine looking to reverse position. Two minutes to go.

Story goes back to the body after eating an elbow. They jockey for position and Story slips a left hand through his guard. They separate with a minute to go. Glancing head kick from Saffiedine. Story to the body on the counter, takes another over-the-shoulder head kick on the way into the clinch. Knees from Saffiedine. Story tries to answer before the bell. 10-9 Story.

Round three: Story drives in for a takedown right away, no luck. low kick from Story. Story bangs away to the body in the clinch. One minute in. Saffiedine lands some knees inside before separating. Body kick by Story. Good left hand by Story on the counter. Saffiedine lands a left hand and drives into the clinch, only to get carted to the fence. Two minutes in. They separate, Story barrels right back into the clinch. Both land left hands on the break, Saffiedine follows his up with a head kick. Two minutes to go.

Saffiedine just has no answer to getting pressed against the cage. Left hand by Story on the exit. Low kick lands, then one from Saffiedine. Counter left and high kick by Saffiedine. The two trade punches. Story again presses him into the fence. One minute to go. Story continues to advance, digging to the body. Straight left by Story, then a trip attempt. Hard left by Story on the fence, then a right hook into the clinch. Story knees him until the bell. 10-9 Story.

Round one: Low kick from Camozzi. More low kicks. Miranda looks to go high, eats more low kicks. One minute in. Hard low kick by the Brazilian. Both land low kicks, Camozzi puts together some punches. Miranda with a right downstairs, then an uppercut. Two minutes in. Solid punches by Camozzi, then an elbow inside. Miranda catches a kick and takes Camozzi down. They scramble and Camozzi looks for a leg. Miranda with some heel kicks as he defends. Camozzi staying busy with his right hand from this weird 50/50 position. One minute to go. Round ends there. 10-9 Camozzi.

Round two: Camozzi staying busy with his hands. Right uppercut lands for him. Body kick from Miranda as he takes punches. Nice cut kick by Camozzi puts Miranda on his back. One minute in. Miranda regains guard. Two minutes in. Pretty much nothing happening at the moment. Miranda tries to kick him off, then gives up his back in the ensuing scramble. Camozzi landing shots from turtle position. Two minutes to go.

Miranda gets his back to the cage, Camozzi wrangles him back down. One minute to go. Camozzi on top in half guard. Camozzi stays busy with ground-and-pound, landing elbows until the bell. 10-9 Camozzi.

Round three: Camozzi's elbows literally took off half of Miranda's left eyebrow, but the doctorlets him continue. The Brazilian moving forward, tossing out kicks and punches. Camozzi takes his back and takes him down once again. North-south, now side control for Camozzi. One minute in. Camozzi maintaining position, not overextending at all as Miranda makes his way to the fence. Miranda manages to scramble up and land a knee. Two minutes in. Miranda separates and lands a glancing high kick. Camozzi moving well, avoiding most of the Brazilian's shots. He takes Miranda to the fence. Two minutes to go.

They separate. They trade punches and Miranda continues to look for the head kick. Hard counter left by Vamozzi. Camozzi's counters are on point. One minute to go. Miranda tries to go southpaw, lands some light kicks. Wheel kick attempt. Miranda still going for it, but eating more than he dishes out. Miranda tries one more wheel kick and eats punches before the bell. 10-9 Camozzi.

Final result: Camozzi def. Miranda by unanimous decision

170 lbs.: Jorge Masvidal vs. Lorenz Larkin

Round one: Low kick from Masvidal to start. Stiff jab by Larkin, then a low kick. Jab, low kick. Not much besides that on either side. Hard body kick from Larkin, then a right hand and low kick. Two minutes in. Low kick, right hand by Masvidal. Masvidal low kick, Larkin low kick. Masvidal walking forward, goes for a spinning kick and a straight right. Two minutes to go.

Masvidal turning the pressure up a bit, steps into the clinch. Short elbow by Masvidal. One minute to go, combination by Masvidal on the exit. Larkin low kick. Right hand met by a Masvidal left hook. Masvidal catches a finger to the eye and he looks absolutely pissed. That can't be good. Masvidal takes plenty of time to recover, but elects to continue. Larkin cracks him with a low kick before the bell. 10-9 Larkin.

Round two: Larkin lands a lovely jumping switch kick that Masvidal laughs off. Low kick from Masvidal. One minute in. Sneaky uppercut by Larkin. Good right hand from the Monson. Still no wrestling from Masvidal. He's starting to advance, though, and lands a righ thand after eating a left hook. Body kick by Larkin, right hand by Masvidal and Larkin ties up. Two minutes in. Elbow and knee from Masvidal, who grabs double underhooks, lands an elbow, and separates. Two minutes to go.

Larkin to the body. Leg kick lands for him, body kick from Masvidal. Masvidal ties up on the fence, Larkin reverses. One minute to go. They separate. Hard right hand by Larkin draws a smile, left hook lands soon after. Body kick by Masvidal, another brutal right by Larkin. They engage in the clinch and Larkin hits a takedown before the bell. 10-9 Larkin.

Round three: 1-2 by Masvidal, met by a front kick. Hard body kick from Larkin. 1-2 lands for Masvidal. One minute in. Good exchange near the fence and Larkin ties up. Elbow from Masvidal. Masvidal latches onto a high-elbow guillotine, can't get it and gets blasted with left hooks. Masvidal slugs with him, then pulls guard on a guillotine. Two minutes in. Masvidal scrambles into position to get in on his hips. Masvidal completes a double, Larkin pops back up. Gamebred working to take the back, can't get it and they split. Two minutes to go.

Larkin blasts him with an uppercut inside and ties back up. They sepaarate with a little over a minute to go. Masvidal shoots, stuffed on the fence. One minute to go. Elbows by Masvidal, working to pummel under. Knees by Larkin, elbows from Masvidal. Larkin reverses position and fights for a takedown before the bell, settling for a spinning elbow. 10-9 Larkin.

Round one: Felder moving forward, Burkman circling. Body kick from Felder. Burkman tries to go high. One minute in. Burkman body kick. Felder with a snap kick, eats a body kick in return. Burkman just misses with a right hand on the exit. Two minutes in. Burkman lands a body kick and right hand; Felder's counters missing for the most part. Burkman keeping him at bay. Long right by Felder. Burkman blasts him with a pair of right hands with two minutes to go.

Burkman lands a straight left inside, picking at Felder's lead leg. Bit shots by Burkman inside and they trade big bombs until Burkman takes him down into side control.  Felder scoots his way to the fence. One minute to go. Felder works his way back to his feet, gets tripped back down briefly. 10-9 Burkman.

Round two: Felder continues to march forward, catches a body kick and lands a low kick. Left hook lands for him. One minute in. Burkman looking for the oblique kick, has been using it well. Felder doing a bit better this round, eats a long right from Burkman and comes back with a low kick. Body knee from Felder. Two minutes in. Counter right by Burkman. Good right inside from Felder. Clinch, elbow by Felder as he carts him to the fence. Two minutes to go.

Burkman reverses position and looks to change levels. He lets him loose. 3-2 by Felder lands clean. BIG left hook, Burkman shrugs it off. Felder pushing forward and slinging bombs. One minute to go, clinch. Burkman again looking to change levels. Felder reverses. He looks to take the back before the bell. 10-9 Felder.

Round three: Felder continues to put together quality punches, forcing Burkman to move along the fence. Low kick by Felder. Body kicks as Burkman kicks at his legs. Felder slips on a spinning back kick, lands a knee. One minute in. Burkman appears to be slowing down, eats a straight right to the chops. Low kicks by Felder. Two minutes in. Low kicks continue to pile up. Another one gets Burkman's attention. Two minutes ago.

Burkman shoots in and eats a knee on the way to the fence. Felder defending well, reverses position. One minute to go. Burkman leaking a whole lot of blood, probably from that knee. They continue to jockey for position. Ref separates them for inaction. Felder shoots, Burkman counters and plants him at the bell. 10-9 Felder.

Round one: Counter 1-2 by Eye. One minute in. Lots of feinting, no solid connections. McMann shoots in and puts Eye on the fence. Knees from McMann. Two minutes in. More knees. One upstairs. Big John separates them. Two minutes to go.

Knee from McMann. Eye just waiting on counter opportunities, while McMann falls short with sizzling right hands. One minute to go. Bell, 10-9 McMann.

Round two: Eye with a counter right as McMann tries to put together a combination. Right hand lands for McMann, who gets tripped up by a well-timed low kick. One minute in. McMann lands another long right hand. Low kick from McMann, counter right by Eye. Two minutes in. McMann shoots, stuffed. Hard right hands from McMann as she wades back into the clinch. Good chain wrestling and she puts Eye on her back. Full guard, two minutes to go.

Hammerfists by McMann as Eye swings to set up an armbar. McMann gets her arm free and moves into side control. Eye turns to face her and gives up her back. McMann does damage from turtle position until the bell. 10-9 McMann.

Round three: Low kick from McMann, counters from Eye. Eye doing nothing on the advance, just countering. One minute in. McMann shoots and plants Eye onto the mat. Side control for McMann. Eye gets to her knees, eats short punches from McMann. Eye just can't dislodge her. Two minutes in. McMann still stuck to her with two minutes to go.

McMann takes side control, then returns to turtle position and drops hammerfists. Back to side control, then into a north-south choke attempt. Eye grimaces, but McMann can't complete it and gets caught in half guard. Full guard now for Eye. Eye finally shows some life in the last few seconds, but can't put anything together. 10-9 McMann.

Final result: McMann def. Eye by unanimous decision

155 lbs.: Abel Trujillo vs. Jordan Rinaldi

Round one: Counter left hook lands for Trujillo. He shoots against the cage and puts Rinaldi on his back. One minute in. Rinaldi using an open guard. Short elbows by Trujillo, but he's not terribly active as Rinaldi throws his legs up. Two minutes in. Trujillo stands over him and allows him to stand. Good left hook lands for Rinaldi, then one on the lead. Trujillo stuffs a quick shot. Two minutes to go.

Reactive takedown attempt by Rinaldi. Knee lands for Trujillo inside. Hard 3-2 lands for him. Rinaldi to the body. One minute to go. Body kick from Trujillo. Both land right hands inside. Good hook by Rinaldi before the bell. 10-9 Trujillo.

Round two: Trujillo catches a kick and takes him down into guard. Rinaldi slaps on an armbar and Trujillo lifts him into the air to yank his arm free. Trujillo waves him up. Rinaldi ducks a left hook and grabs the rear waistlock, taking Trujillo to the mat and taking his back. Two minutes in. Rinaldi maintaining solid back control, looking for the choke. Two minutes to go.

Trujillo trying to punch over his shoulder. Rinaldi flattens him out with the body triangle. One minute to go. Trujillo surviving but not doing much to escape. Rinaldi goes for an armbar before the bell and loses position. 10-9 Rinaldi.

Round three: Trujillo comes out throwing, stops a takedown and cracks Rindaldi with a left hook. Trujillo sprawls on a shot, eats a knee on the way up. One minute in. Rinaldi ducks down for a single-leg, takes him to the fence, and transitions to a double. He works his way to the rear waistlock and looks for the back. Trujillo slips out, visibly fatigued. Trujillo stops a shot and lands a knee. Two minutes in. Good exchange in the center. Rinaldi lands a head kick, then a 2-3. 3-2 in response. Trujillo with a stiff jab and a hard left hook backs Rinaldi off. Two minutes to go.

Both men exhausted. Another hook by Trujillo and another. Right hand lands. Trujillo hits a double-leg on the fence. Full guard for Trujillo. One minute to go. Trujillo avoids an omoplata attempt and lets Rinaldi stand. Trujillo lands a left hook before the bell. 10-9 Trujillo.

Round one: They immediately step into the clinch and trade blows. Collier with a spinning kick and right hand. Uda looks for the Thai plum on the fence. Solid knee and they separate. Collier with a body kick. Right hand by Collier, brutal knee by Uda. Uda cracks him with an uppercut that makes him turn his back. Uda hits a takedown, looking for the back. Collier pops back up and reverses position to get the rear waistlock. Uda turns to face him. Two minutes in. Knees by Uda and they separate. Collier lands a spinning back fist that seems to rattle Uda, but they separate. The Brazilian re-enters the clinch. Collier reverses. Uda uses a whizzer to stop a takedown, can't stop the next one. Two minutes to go.

Half guard for Collier. Uda regains guard. One minute to go. Uda striking off his back, eating some shots from Collier. The two of them scramble and Uda manages to take the back. Collier manages to roll onto his own back and looks for a leg at the bell. 10-9 Uda.

Round two: Uda plodding forward, tossing out strikes. HE clinches up and eats some shots from Collier. Collier looks for a single-leg, nothing there. Collier lands on the counter as Uda just walks forward. Spinning back kick to the body by Collier seems to wind the Brazilian.. Hard knee by the American, then another spinning back kick that knocks the fight out of Uda. He crumbles to the mat and Collier has the comeback knockout.

Final result: Collier def. Uda by TKO (spinning back kick and punches)

155 lbs.: Erik Koch vs. Shane Campbell

Round one: Low kicks from Campbell to start off. Koch knocks him off-balance with a 1-2. They exchange and Campbell lands another low kick. Another left hand in return by Koch, who eats a body kick. Low kick exchange. One minute in. Koch with a head kick and 1-2. Good tit-for-tat thus far. Blistering inside low kick by Campbell, who's landing that as Koch punches. Glancing head kick by Koch and they trade on the fence. Clinch. They jockey for position on the fence. Two minutes in. Campbell looks for a foot sweep, can't get it but lands a knee. Koch goes for a trip in return. Both men land knees. Two minutes to go.

Quick foot sweep and knee by Campbell. They separate back to the center. Campbell shoots and takes Koch back to the fence.Koch counters a foot sweep and takes top position. One minute to go. Campbell looking to stand on the fence. He pops up, gets taken right back down and Koch takes the back. Round ends there. 10-9 Koch.

Round two: Campbell clocks him with a good elbow early, but gets taken down into half guard. Koch staying heavy, hops right to mount but can't keep it. One minute in. Elbow by Koch. Campbell tries to regain guard, cannot do so. Koch threatening an arm-triangle, still in half guard. Campbell gives up his back and tries to escape out the backdoor. Two minutes in. Koch transitions to the back, one hook in. Campbell brings his hands down to try to stand and Koch slaps on a vicious rear-naked choke, earning the tap.

Final result: Koch def. Campbell by submission (rear-naked choke)

Round one: Sterling tossing out kicks early. Caraway taunts him and lands a left hook. Low kick from Sterling. One minute in. Sterling latches onto a single-leg and takes Caraway to the fence. They punch each other in the face from that awkward position for a bit. Caraway defending, but Sterling takes his back. Full body triangle for Sterling. One minute in. Sterling looks for a crank as Caraway tries to remove his legs, nothing there. Two minutes to go.

Sterling continues to maintain control. Caraway looking to turn into guard. Sterling adjusts and regains a stable position. Sterling transitions into what looks like a full nelson, cranking the hell out of Caraway's neck, but the Alpha Male product manages to survive and nearly slip out the backdoor before the bell. 10-9 Sterling.

Round two: Caraway on the advance, looking for punches. Sterling changes levels and Caraway latches onto a guillotine, Sterling slips out and they stand. Body kick from Sterling, then a 1-2. Low kick lands. One minute in. Caraway counters a low kick with a right hand. Caraway still stalking forward, clinches up. Two minutes in. Short knees from Caraway against the fence, Sterling answers in kind. They separate. Two minutes to go.

Caraway changes levels and scores a takedown into butterfly guard. Caraway moving up for a guillotine. Sterling trying to turn into him and shoot, Caraway scrambling well and looking for the back. He manages to take half guard with thirty seconds to go. He gets the back at the bell. 10-9 Caraway.

Round three: Low kick and front kick from Sterling to start. Left hook by Caraway as Sterling circles. Axe kick attempt by Sterling, who sprawls on a double-leg and lands a right hand. Overhand right from the Funk Master. Caraway shoots and hits a takedown on the fence. Sterling looking for a guillotine, not there. Caraway still driving as Sterling looks to slip around to his back. Round one: The two immediately start trading ridiculous punches, slamming home heavy haymakers. De La Rocha changes levels, gets reversed and put on his back. He manages to scramble up and they trade in the center. Hard right hands by Milstead. De La Rocha with a counter right himself, then a takedown near the fence. He scrambles up and De La Rocha roughs him up on the fence. Two minutes in. They separate and De La Rocha seems to have found his rhythm. Milstead lands some blows of his own. Big right hand from Milstead. Huge uppercut, right cross. Milstead finding his mark with counters. 2-3 and another right hand force De La Rocha to clinch. Two minutes to go.

De La Rocha keeps him on the fence for a while, then exits with punches. Left hook by Milstead, who gets taken down on the fence. Milstead back up in a hurry. One minute to go. De La Rocha works the body, then eats some more punches as they separate. Leg kick by De La Rocha before the bell. 10-9 Milstead.

Round two: Milstead showing better hands as De La Rocha fires arm punches. De La Rocha still moving forward, though. They trade left hooks. Counter right by Milstead, low kick from De La Rocha. One minute in. 1-2 by De La Rocha, then body shots. Milstead bounces a right hand off his head. De La Rocha shoots. Two minutes in, Milstead still defending. The ref separates them thirty seconds later and Milstead lands a right hand. Milstead catches a body kick, lands a straight right and uppercut. Another right hand as they trade. Milstead laying into him with brutal shots near the fence. Two minutes to go.

De La Rocha shoves him away and plods after him, bleeding heavily. Milstead cracks him with some big shots and forces him to the fence. As they separate, Milstead smashes him with a series of devastating punches. De La Rocha tries to fight back, but his face is an ungodly mess and the referee steps in.

Final result: Milstead def. De La Rocha by TKO (punches)
