One of the more powerful fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flyweight division will make his return at UFC Fight Night 89 on June 18 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, as former title challenger Ali Bagautinov takes on 25-year-old Geane Herrera.
Bagautinov (13-4, 3-2 UFC) hasn't competed since losing a unanimous decision to Joseph Benavidez back at UFC 192. Before that, the 30-year-old Russian tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO) in his championship defeat to Demetrious Johnson back at UFC 174. He hasn't won inside of the Octagon since stifling John Lineker through three rounds back in early 2014.
Herrera (9-1) will have a huge opportunity to step up in competition at the 125-pound level. As someone who has only fought twice in the UFC, compiling a record of 1-1 with a second-round TKO victory, "La Pulga" could certainly make a name for himself if he's able to ward off Bagautinov.
UFC Fight Night 89 will be headlined by a Welterweight showdown between title hopefuls Rory MacDonald and Stephen Thompson.
