The mixed martial arts (MMA) world simply cannot escape the turmoil surrounding Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
In a recent report by TMZ Sports, UFC president Dana White flew to Stockton, California earlier today (Fri., May 20, 2016) to meet with Diaz in preparation for rescheduling his rematch with UFC Featherweight champion McGregor. Remember, McGregor met with White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta yesterday (Thurs., May 19, 2016) to hash out their differences from UFC 200's debacle.
Unfortunately, White's meeting with Diaz allegedly went sour. TMZ Sports reports that everything was going well until White became visibly upset, stormed out of the restaurant, and hopped in his SUV. While money most likely has something to do with the altercation, the report did not elaborate any further.
TMZ Sports also caught a friendly handshake between White and Diaz at the beginning of the meeting:
With McGregor in the market for a $10 million pay day for the impending rematch, it's understandable that Diaz may be looking for more compensation after getting passed over at UFC 200.
Whatever the holdup is, the promotion would be wise to quickly accommodate Diaz.
