Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight kingpin Demetrious Johnson returns for his next title defense against No. 8-ranked contender Wilson Reis in the UFC 201 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event on July 30, 2016 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
UFC Tonight brought word of the pending showdown on Wednesday.
Johnson (24-2-1) has yet to lose a fight as a UFC flyweight and is currently riding a 10-fight winning streak. That includes last month's technical knockout victory over Henry Cejudo at UFC 197. "Mighty Mouse" is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in mixed martial arts (MMA) and seems to get better with each performance.
In short, this is going to be a tough hill to climb for the challenger.
Especially considering Reis (20-6) already has a pair of decision losses under the UFC banner. After coming up short against Jussier Formiga last year on FOX Sports 1, the Brazilian rebounded with a unanimous decision nod over the gritty Dustin Ortiz.
David, meet Goliath.
UFC 201 will be headlined by UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, who puts his 170-pound title up for grabs against top contender Tyron Woodley. Elsewhere on the card, Siyar Bahadurzada and Claudio Silva bang it out for welterweight bragging rights.
Expect more UFC 201 fight card announcement in the coming weeks, if not days.
