The entire mixed martial arts (MMA) world already knew just what kind of a threat Cris Cybrog was, despite having never competing inside the Octagon.
She further solidified her status as a dangerous fighter last night (Sat., Mat 14, 2016) as Cris proved on the biggest stage of them all that she has what it takes to compete in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) by knocking out Leslie Smith in the very first round in her company debut.
After the fight, Cyborg gave a backstage interview to talk about he long road to the Octagon.
"It was really fast and I am really happy for this opportunity and today was an amazing time, an amazing night. I just feel for Werdum because he is a really close friend to me, but I am really happy about my fight. It's amazing all the people who followed me and watch my first fight in Brazil, and after 10 years I did my best to get a KO for all of my fans. I am happy and I feel great. I made 140 and I did good. I can do catch weights or I will defend my belt at 145 pounds. Any girl that fights me like Leslie, I will fight anywhere."
As for what's next for Cyborg, she will likely go back to her home at Invicta FC to defend her Featherweight title.
After that, if anyone else is bold enough to accept a catchweight fight against her of 140 pounds, then don't be surprised to see her back in the eight-walled cage down the road.
And though she only needed to drop three more pounds to hit the legal Bantamweight limit, a 135 pound UFC title fight won't be in the cards anytime soon.
