In a fight that pitted one of the best grappling specialists in mixed martial arts (MMA) against one of the best strikers, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Ronaldo Souza torched the legendary Vitor Belfort at UFC 198 live on pay-per-view (PPV) Saturday night (May 24, 2016) from the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil.
Belfort really didn't have a chance to unload his patented barrage of strikes as "Jacare" smothered him against the cage from the get go. Souza gained control of Belfort, passed to full mount, and proceeded to rain down heavy elbows and brutal punches en route to earning a first-round TKO win.

While Souza lost a close decision to Yoel Romero back at UFC 194, he has certainly cemented himself as a top contender moving forward. After all, he already has a history with current Middleweight champion Luke Rockhold dating back to their title fight in Strikeforce.
