Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua turned back the clock tonight (Sat., May 14, 2016) at UFC 198 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil, by earning a split-decision victory over former TUF winner Corey Anderson.
Despite controlling the Brazilian for a good portion of the three-round fight, Anderson did little to truly separate himself on the judges' scorecards. The fact that Rua nearly finished Anderson at the end of the first round certainly aided the Brazilian's performance.
The full fight video highlights can be seen above.
The victory is Rua's second in a row in a growing 205-pound division, and should keep the veteran afloat heading into the second half of 2016. He did his best to put on a show in front of his hometown crowd.
