Times are tough for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran George Roop, who was released by the promotion back in February after losing back-to-back Bantamweight fights to Takeya Mizugaki and Rob Font (who fights later tonight at UFC 198).
After finding a new promotion to call home, the 34-year-old Roop (15-13-1) made his ROAD FC debut earlier today (Sat., May 14, 2016) at ROAD FC 31.
In an unfortunate occurrence, Roop broke his leg on an attempt to kick his opponent, 27-year-old South Korean Yoon Jun Lee, in the body. Roop was obviously unable to continue and Lee was awarded the first-round victory by way of technical knockout.
As an aging veteran who has never really cashed in on his mixed martial arts (MMA) potential after knocking Chan Sung Jung out cold with a head kick back at WEC 51, this is certainly going to set Roop back moving forward.
Stick with MMAmania for impending updates on Roop's condition.
