World Series of Fighting (WSOF) comes to Xfinity Arena in Everett, Wash., on July 30, 2016, with "Moraes vs. Hill 2," with the main card set to air live on NBC Sports at 10:30 p.m. ET.
Bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes (16-4-1) has been on a tear for more than four straight years, winning 11 consecutive fights en route to capturing the promotion's 135-pound title and successfully defending it three times. One of those previous title defense was against Josh "The Gentleman" Hill (14-1), who gave the dominant Moraes one of his toughest tests to date at WSOF 18 in Feb. 2015. Hill took Moraes to the distance, but the champ prevailed with the judges, all of whom scored it 49-46 for Moraes.
WSOF President Ray Sefo offered these thoughts on the newly announced fight.
"The magnitude of this event has increased dramatically with the addition of a second world title fight and rematch between Marlon Moraes, who has been unstoppable, in the cage, and one of the most formidable and talented contenders in the world in Josh Hill."
The other title fight Sefo is referring to is Alexandre "Capitao" Almeida (18-5), who will make his first Featherweight title defense against the same man he defeated at WSOF 26 to claim the gold, Lance "The Party" Palmer (10-2).
Palmer had looked dominant in his previous title defense against Chris Horodecki at WSOF 21, but found the tall Almeida hard to hit and even harder to take down. It was a very close fight though with all three judges giving Almeida a narrow 48-47 scorecard to become the new champion.
The revised WSOF 32 card will also feature a brother vs. brother fight when Caros "The Future" Fodor (10-5) faces Ben "Phoenix Jones" Fodor at a Catchweight of 152 pounds.
