Report: UFC champ Conor McGregor forced to hire bodyguards in wake of recent death threats

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Conor McGregor may be the baddest man at 145 pounds (for now), but that doesn't mean he's the man of steel. So as you might expect, "Notorious" wasn't taking any chances when he recently stepped out for a night on the town (pics) and brought a pair of bruisers to watch his back.

Just in case he ran into any crazed Floyd Mayweather fans.

"He told people their names were Rocky and Drago," a source told the Irish Mirror. "And that he'd hired them because of death threats. One of them even waited directly outside the toilets when he nipped in at one stage."

Better safe than sorry, especially after this unsettling encounter earlier this year.

McGregor has been keeping himself in the public eye in recent weeks but still has not committed to an Octagon return. "Notorious" skipped town after the UFC 200 media responsibilities became too intrusive on his preparations for a potential Nate Diaz rematch.
