It sounds like some of the top Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters are starting to speak out against online critics, affectionately known as "keyboard warriors" because they sit behind a computer screen and talk shit all day about something they've never done.
Like me, only without the meager salary.
The latest ex-champ to unplug the Internet experts is Mauricio Rua, who like Anderson Silva before him, doesn't have time for the negative Nancys blowing up his social media account.
"Shogun" talks to Combate:
"This is the price for the growth of the sport. There are more critics, more people who are pain in the ass. I'm going to give a pornographic example. I do not want to generalize, because it's only a few fans who do this. There are people who feel good going on the Internet to criticize. It's like a virgin guy, he sees porn movie his whole life, and suddenly he thinks he fucks like a pornstar, but he never even had sex. It's the same thing in our sport. Most fans support. The guy, as a fan, like you as a person and as an athlete. The Brazilian fans are fans of results. For this small number of fans I give this example. The guy who is a virgin, who watches porn all day and think that fucks like a pro. In a few words: They are keyboard warriors."
Any virgins in the house to refute this claim?
Rua will return to the cage for the UFC 198 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place inside Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil, on Sat., May 14, 2016. Opposing him is streaking light heavyweight up-and-comer Corey Anderson (more on that fight here).
